The water-activated swelling water stop sealant is packaged in aluminum foil soft packaging, making it easy to use with a dispensing tool. It is simple and convenient to use. This sealant is suitable for waterproof sealing in concrete construction projects, such as reserved joints, cast-in-place joints, and prefabricated pipe fittings, and belongs to polyurethane sealants. Next, let's look at the usage method and construction standards of the water-activated swelling water stop sealant.
1. Usage method of water-activated swelling water stop sealant
The usage of the swelling water stop sealant involves several processes: cleaning the interface, determining the size of the extrusion section, cutting the opening, applying the sealant, curing the sealant after application, handling before the water-activated swelling water stop sealant cures, and precautions during construction.
Before applying the water-activated swelling water stop sealant, clean the surface to be coated to ensure the coating interface is clean and dry. Generally, the specific gravity of the swelling water stop sealant is 600ml. If the joint size is 15×5mm, one tube of water-activated swelling water stop sealant can cover about 8 meters. If the extrusion section size is 10×10mm and 20×5mm, one tube can cover about 6 meters. For an extrusion section of 15×8mm, one sealant can cover about 4.9 meters, and for an extrusion section of 20×10mm, a 600ml swelling water stop sealant can be used for about 3 meters.
Open one end of the water-activated swelling water stop sealant's aluminum foil packaging and place it into the dispensing tool, ensuring the continuity of the sealant and evenly covering the concrete surface. The drying time for the water-activated swelling water stop sealant is 24 hours, and the dried surface should not be touched. It is important to note that during the curing process, there should be no rain or bubbles to avoid premature swelling or detachment of the sealant. If this occurs, reapply to areas that have been soaked by rain or water.
2. Construction standards for water-activated swelling water stop sealant
The construction standards for construction joints with water-activated swelling rubber water stop strips apply to the construction of water stop strips at construction joints.
1. The position of the construction joint should comply with design and current national standards.
2. Clean the floating soil and slurry on the surfaces of horizontal and vertical construction joints.
3. Remove any accumulated water at the construction joint.
4. The working surface temperature should not be lower than -20°C.
5. Technical preparation: Before the construction of BW-type water stop strips, material inspection should be conducted, and construction can only proceed after passing the inspection.
The water-activated swelling rubber water stop strip has a high swelling rate, which allows the concrete construction joints to have strong self-healing capabilities. This product is made of strip-shaped solid waterproof materials composed of polymer water-absorbing resins such as polyurethane and sodium acrylate, with a rectangular cross-section. The cross-section sizes can be processed according to design requirements, such as 15mm×20mm and 20mm×50mm. If there are special design requirements, they should be met, such as cross-section size and swelling rate.
When the water-activated swelling rubber water stop strip arrives on site, it should have a factory qualification certificate. After entering the site, the appearance should be checked promptly. Only water-activated swelling rubber water stop strips that pass the on-site appearance inspection and inspection report can be used.
