The color of the water-activated expansion water stop sealant is shiny black, and it can be used directly with a coating tool. After curing, the water-activated expansion sealant forms a rubber body with certain elasticity and tensile strength. When it encounters water after curing, the gel will absorb water and expand, with an expansion rate greater than 220. 1. Characteristics of water-activated expansion water stop sealant
The physical performance indicators of water stop sealant are: solid content >80, specific gravity 1.20~1.55g/cm, sagging degree (20℃) ≤3mm before curing; after curing, the test items are elongation rate ≥400, tensile strength >0.3mpa, and volume expansion rate in clear water (room temperature, distilled water) ≥220. These areas can use water-activated expansion sealant for waterproof sealing treatment.
The curing and protection of water-activated expansion sealant: the water-activated expansion sealant is a single-component sealant that can be applied using a standard caulking gun. After applying the water-activated expansion water stop sealant, the surface hardens, and once it feels dry to the touch, the next concrete pouring can proceed. The water-activated expansion sealant has a slow expansion characteristic, with 39.3% of the total expansion occurring within 7 days, so there is no need to worry about excessive expansion affecting the next concrete pouring.
2. Maintenance of water-activated expansion water stop sealant
1. The construction environment temperature should be chosen between 5℃-40℃. Below 5℃, the hardening time will be extended due to humidity; above 40℃, the sagging degree will increase. The environmental temperature during construction should not be lower than -10℃ or higher than 50℃.
2. The water stop sealant reacts with moisture (humidity) in the air to harden. The next concrete pouring can only proceed after the surface of the sealant has completely hardened.
3. When tying and welding reinforcement near the water stop sealant, necessary measures should be taken to protect the sealant. Especially when welding steel bars, materials such as asbestos cloth should cover the surface of the sealant.
4. The exposed parts of the sealant should be temporarily covered for protection.
5. If there is a long period from the water stop belt construction to the secondary concrete pouring, please pay attention to protect the water stop belt from being soaked. If there is soaking caused by water activation and the sealant of the water stop belt peels off, repairs should be made before pouring concrete. The repair method is as follows: use nails to fix the sealant of the water stop belt at the peeling area; after removing moisture, remove the sealant that needs to be peeled off and reapply.
Water-activated expansion sealant is mainly suitable for underground engineering in industrial and civil buildings, municipal tunnels, protective engineering, mountainous and underwater tunnels, underground railways, sewage treatment tanks, and other construction joints (including post-pouring strips), deformation joints, and waterproofing of embedded components, as well as seepage treatment of existing projects.
